Wellbeing
Tempe Public School supports student wellbeing by creating safe, inclusive environments where students feel connected, respected and understood. We explicitly teach social-emotional skills and provide timely support for students who need extra help.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
-
strong, positive relationships
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- adults who respond consistently, calmly and respectfully
- open communication about wellbeing and support between our school and families
-
clear expectations and predictable routines
- behaviour expectations that are explicitly taught, fair and consistent
- daily routines that help students feel secure and know what to expect
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
-
inclusive and culturally responsive practices
- learning environments that reflect students’ identities, cultures and strengths
- classroom activities where all students can participate meaningfully
-
support systems for wellbeing
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- early intervention and support for students who need extra help
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
-
safe physical and emotional environments
- classrooms free from harassment and discrimination
- spaces where students can express themselves without fear of judgement
- Anti-Racism Contact Officer (ARCO) visible and known within the school, providing a safe point of contact for all

Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL at Tempe Public School
Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) is a school-wide behaviour initiative. PBL encourages positive behaviour from students, which supports and nurtures students’ own personal development. At Tempe, our three core values are safe, respectful and responsible.
All staff members explicitly teach behaviour expectations, support positive behaviour, use the same language and follow consistent behaviour management procedures.
Our PBL signage supports students in making positive behaviour choices. Have a look around the school to learn more about the expectations for each area of the school!
