School band

Established in 2014 and proudly run by a sub-committee of our P&C, the Tempe Public School Band Program offers an enriching and supportive music education beginning in Year 3, designed to nurture your child’s musical journey from the very start. Under the guidance of our highly qualified and dedicated Band Director, students receive a strong foundation in learning an instrument, reading music, and developing a deep appreciation and understanding of musical performance.

Band at Tempe Public School

Our Band Program supports students from Training Band through to Performance and Stage Band, offering a clear pathway for growth and achievement. Along the way, students perform regularly, building confidence and pride as they share their talents with the school community and beyond. Instrument tutoring at Tempe PS provides personalised instruction, helping each student reach their full potential.

Led by Murray Jackson, an accomplished saxophonist, composer and graduate of the Australian National University and NSW Conservatorium, our band benefits from his expertise, enthusiasm and strong connection to our school.
More than music education, the program nurtures teamwork, discipline and leadership through mentoring and collaboration. Scholarships are available to encourage and support young musicians.
Beginning in Year 3, students develop foundational skills within a supportive musical community, gaining creativity, confidence and lifelong skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

At Tempe Public School you are joining a community where your child’s talents and interests are nurtured with care and expertise. We invite you to explore the possibilities that our Band Program offers and watch your child flourish through the power of music.
