Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Tempe PS Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At Tempe Public School, we are:

  • Safe
  • Respectful
  • Responsible

What is PBL?

Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) is a school-wide behaviour initiative. PBL encourages positive behaviour from students, which supports and nurtures students’ own personal development.

All staff members explicitly teach behaviour expectations and support positive behaviour.

All staff employ the same language and follow consistent behaviour management procedures.

Our PBL signage supports students in making positive behaviour choices. Have a look around the school to learn more about the expectations for each area of the school!

How do we reinforce positive behaviours?

Praise and reinforcement is consistently provided to students to encourage and motivate them to follow PBL expectations.

Students are awarded ‘Tiger Tokens’ when they display safe, respectful and responsible behaviours.

These tokens are collected and counted according to House groups. The House that receives the most tokens in a term is rewarded with a PBL celebration.

How do we address negative behaviours?

When a student is not displaying PBL behaviours, staff will respond, restate and reteach expected behaviours and provide an appropriate consequence.

If negative behaviours continue, consequences may include:

  • Temporary removal from activity
  • Loss of privilege
  • Reflection sheet signed and returned by parent
  • Behaviour referral slip filled out and recorded by Assistant Principal

How can I support my child?

  • Positively reinforce safe, respectful and responsible behaviour.
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest PBL information in Tempe Talk and our social media accounts.
  • Provide feedback or ask questions about the PBL program.
  • Discuss the PBL signage with your child as you walk around our school.
